The Sacredness of Blood Leviticus 17 This is a very interesting piece in the Old Testament. According to vs. 3 to 4 “and Israelite who kills a cow or a sheep or a goat as offering to Lord anywhere except at the entrance of the tent for the Lord’s presence has broken the law. He has shed blood and shall no longer be considered one of gods people.” Well let’s fast-forward to the year 2002 A.D. according to this scripture then, no one is Gods' people anymore. Even the Israelis who take over Palestine are no longer gods people according to their own Hebrew Bible. This is a very adamant piece of literature. If you believe your Gods chosen people, please tell me where the Lords tents is, so I may come join you to sacrifice animals at his presence. Any other form of worship is just a false ideology. Of course many Jewish scholars will say one cannot take the Bible literally, you must take it metaphorically. Does the Bible say somewhere that we are supposed to take it metaphorically? This belief in God was dependent upon sacrifices. This belief in God demanded the murder and slaughter of animals and birds. The blood that was poured out was to forgive the sins of Israel. I wonder how much blood has been spilled over the centuries trying to forgive the sins of the Israel? As long as Jesus Christ is not accepted as the messiah, more and more blood will be shed. Of course only stating the obvious. Verse 13 “if any Israelite or a foreigner living in the community catches an animal or a bird which is ritually clean, he must poor out its blood on the ground and cover it with dirt.” I guess if you’re just walking along back them and you happen to catch a ritually clean animal you’re supposed to drain its blood right there. It also says that anyone who eats meat with blood in it, they will no longer be considered gods people. When is last time you had a medium rare stake? I guess all this ancient Bible stuff can really make a person crazy. If you tried to follow every rule and law according to the Hebrew Bible nobody would be saved. Since I do count on the fact that Jesus Christ spilt his blood out, since I believe Jesus Christ was the Son of God, since only God’s blood could do something eternally and forever. I will trust in the blood that came from Jesus Christ on the cross. I find it very interesting that there is no way possible anyone would go to heaven if we tried to adhere literally to everything that is written in the Bible. And what does that say about other religious books? The writings of man, at what point do they become the writings of God? Thomas A. SUTOR P.O. Box 2343 Lompoc CA 93438 Rockhawk.com
