Participate in civil unions as opposed to religious laws...
Dear Thomas,
Superior Court Judge Richard Kramer's ruling this week that California's marriage law discriminates on the basis of sex - and therefore violates the state's Constitution and the basic right to marry the person of
one's choice - is certainly cause for celebration! While opponents are widely expected to appeal the ruling, there's no denying that Kramer's decision is an important step forward in providing a legal basis for
same-sex marriage.
On a more somber note, another issue of significant importance to the gay community - the global AIDS pandemic - continues to inflict a heavy toll worldwide. That's why we have an important action for you
today.
Tell Bush to Get Serious About the Fight Against AIDS
Sign here: http://www.care2.com/go/z/22348
The latest estimates suggest that 34 to 46 million people are now living with HIV/AIDS worldwide, with some 8,000 people succumbing daily to this devastating disease. Shockingly, that's the equivalent of twenty jumbo
jets crashing each day!
Yet, for 2005 Congress has allocated only $2.7 billion to fight global AIDS, or just 0.1% of the total U.S. budget. To put this in perspective, U.S. spending for HIV/AIDS this year will equal just 5% of U.S. spending
on national defense - and that doesn't include spending for the military occupation of Iraq.
We think America can and should do more to fight global AIDS! That's why Care2 is working with non-profits to urge the U.S. to commit 1% of the federal budget to
fight the war against AIDS. It represents a sensible way for America to use its economic power to deal with poverty and injustice. It would make our country more secure by bringing greater stability to nations that
are struggling to cope under the weight of the AIDS pandemic.

Hi Thomas,
Is it just me, or are you also getting tired of the religious right's narrow definition of the important moral and social issues of the day? It's easy to lose sight of the fact that the quest for global peace and a
cure for AIDS remain critical moral issues that desperately call out for enlightened leadership and real resources.
We have two important actions in this issue:
1. Who Gets to Define "Moral Values"?
2. Tell Bush to get serious about the fight against AIDS
1. Who Gets to Define "Moral Values"?
Petition: http://www.care2.com/go/z/19835
Post-election conventional wisdom is telling us the "moral values" issues of gay marriage and abortion won the election for President Bush. But the conservative right does not have a monopoly on morality. Moderate
Americans, gay Americans, and progressive Christians have moral values too - not everyone defines their faith or politics by wedge issues like gay marriage and abortion.
A post-election poll conducted by Zogby International confirmed that most American voters have a far broader definition of "moral values" than the far-right would like us to believe. When asked which "moral
issue most influenced your vote," 42% of respondents chose the war in Iraq, while only 13% said abortion and 9% said same-sex marriage.
Clearly, the American people realize that issues such as poverty, war, inclusion, and social justice are moral values.
Tell the Republican and Democratic parties that we want real moral leadership on the critical faith issues of war and peace, poverty, and social justice:
http://www.care2.com/go/z/19835
2. Tell Bush to get serious about the fight against AIDS
Petition: http://www.care2.com/go/z/19838
AIDS is one of the most pressing moral issues of our time. The disease is ravaging the African continent and leaving a devastating legacy for survivors. Everyday, some 6,500 people die from AIDS in Africa, leaving
behind a generation of orphans.
For 2005, Congress has allocated $2.7 billion for the fight against global AIDS, or just 0.1% of the total U.S. budget. To put this in perspective, U.S. spending on AIDS next year will equal just 5% of annual U.S.
spending on national defense. America can and should do more to fight global AIDS!
That's why we need a minute of your time. Care2 is working with non-profits to urge the U.S. to commit 1% of the federal budget to fight this devastating disease. It would make a huge difference to kids who are
suffering. It would make our country more secure.

Hi Thomas,
Our rights are under attack in the strangest places. Even the National Park Service (NPS) is under pressure from the Religious Right on the issue of gay rights. Thank you for receiving this Gay Rights Alert from
Care2. Please act today to protect your right to protest: http://www.care2.com/go/z/18128
In 1993 and 2000, hundreds of thousands of Americans - including yours truly - marched on Washington in support of gay and lesbian rights. These marches made history, and we've built on their success ever since.
But today, there are some in the Religious Right who want to erase that proud history.
Here's what's happening: last year, under pressure from conservative religious groups, NPS promised to edit a videotape that is shown to the public at the Lincoln Memorial. What's on the video that needs to be edited
out? Scenes of American citizens protesting for gay rights, abortion rights, and peace at the Lincoln Memorial, including scenes from the 2000 Millenium March for Equality.
That's right - free speech and the right to peacefully assemble are offensive behaviors to some and should not be shown to the public. At least, if those who are speaking and assembling are gay, pro-choice or
anti-war.
Let's keep speaking out: http://www.care2.com/go/z/18128
Even worse, NPS has spent $200,000 creating new versions of this videotape to appease the Religious Right. And recently, they pulled the existing videotape from the Memorial, but have not shown the public what they
plan on releasing in its place.
Don't let the far-right erase our proud history of civil rights protests and peaceful dissent in this country! Please ask the National Park Service to include all of the scenes from the original video, which
show the wide range of protest and activity at the Lincoln Memorial. Sign this petition today: http://www.care2.com/go/z/18128
Thank you for acting today!

Foreskins Forever! No More Circumcisions!
As a growing site becomes an ever-increasing insight for the common man, we have added a most important section to reveal the truth about homosexuals. What their beliefs are. Most importantly, their moral beliefs. Many extremists would
not even consider that homosexuals and lesbians have a moral code of honor. In the next coming months we will show true stories – so please, open your mind and heart to the
secrets of this mysterious world.
As far as I’m concerned, “Straight Pride” is a group of people mostly men who are probably insecure about
their actual sexuality. Go to most normal intelligence sex males. And they have no question about whether they are gay or straight. You either are, or you are not. It is interesting that 90% of child molestation is committed by straight men and women with perverse
desires. I think it is more important that good poor-class, middle-class, and rich class people` start investigating the groups that practice hate. We need to make sure
that they are not just trying to cover up their child abuse secrets...
If you are a victim of child abuse, dealing with being gay, considered different, considered an outcast by
your peers, or even antagonized by your own race. The stories you will read here' will open the doorway to show that homosexuals suffer just as greatly if not more so, than
people of the straight world. Yet, they’re as trustworthy and reliable as any good friend worthy of trust~ can be.
One other thing, some of these stories will deal with adult perversion and abusive graphic
writing. If you are a child and this sexual stuff has happened to you, You have my full permission to tell your mommy what was done to you, and who did it. ROCKHAWK.COM Stop Child Abuse NOW!!! If your mom is the
abuser, tell your Dad if both parents are abusing you, tell your minister. If it is other people touching you tell someone you trust that is old enough to put a stop to it. Phone Book

Today we've made history - gay and lesbian couples are exchanging vows in Massachusetts!
Triumphs like this are what give me the strength to keep up the struggle - against hate, violence, poverty, AIDS.
There's so much still to be done - today, we need your help to call for an end to AIDS and poverty in Africa and worldwide. Act here: http://www.care2.com/go/z/14293
Here is the crisis we face:
6,300 people in Africa die each day of AIDS.
Each day ONE in four Africans goes without enough food to eat.
Each day ONE in three children in Africa can't afford to go to school.
Each day more than ONE in three Africans goes without access to clean water.
Every seven seconds, ONE child in Africa dies of preventable disease.
Sign this petition to urge your fellow Americans to fully commit to fighting AIDS around the world. Together, we can make a difference. Add your voice
here: http://www.care2.com/go/z/14293
Thank you for all that you do!
