A pet owner, I will be. Too often the pain of the world makes us sad yet, there is magic in a pet. A pet is chosen and loved be it puppy or kitty, bird or fowl, snake or rat. To each his and her own. I myself have many little critters to keep me entertained. It is most likely that only the rich in olden days could enjoy the luxury of owning an animal. Today, we all have the opportunity to save an animal from the shelter, ride at the horse race, or buy one at our local pet store. These creatures are well worth the effort of cleaning and maintaining. They are like no other technological creation because they are biological beings created when time was young…
Everyday can be an entertainment that is free of boredom and loneliness. Those who choose not to have a pet “must not realize” the great benefit to health these creatures possess. They are great for blood pressure, and they reduce our stress by playing with and petting them. I would not want to live in a world without pets. It must have taken the ancients many, many, years to tame these animals. Or, were they created to be domestic way before we had oral or written word? I am always pleased by the wagging tail of a dog, the string chase of a kitten, and the funny head bobs of a cockatiel. Even fish have a very interesting way about the way they swim in an aquarium` be they fresh water or salt.
When I was young, I had pets and sometimes they got taken away, or they died. Those were sad times, and I cried over the death of an animal that made me feel special. Today I am grown, and I can buy and raise as many pets as I can afford. It is no wonder that in America we enjoy pet shows. The animals are beautiful and well trained. They prance and are showcased for their unique looks. We have training facilities and shelters for all the animals in this country. I find it sad that countries that do not have pets also seem to be the most poor and hostile environments. Maybe if the middle easterners had pets, they would not live in such hate of humans? Therefore, I think it is important to care for creatures, and pets teach us how to do this.
Maybe we as Americans should donate the skill and knowledge of raising animals to desolate peoples. It is well known that all civilized societies have pets and appreciate their animals. Why even saints have been known to show how to love for animals as a part of the family. A family is so important in this day and age, and it is wrong to teach animals to kill and fight. Those who do this live in poverty and welfare ideology. To be happy, healthy, and rich, one must appreciate all of the creator’s intentions. This planet was given life to live and enjoy. When the days have gone and you are old, it will be a pet that helps you make it into the passing. I pray that all good people are allowed to care for their pets.
